Regional Pacific Community Trainer (PCT) Workshop - Samoa

Nurturing the next generation of Pacific Community Trainers (PCTs)

From 11 to 15 May 2026, 15 members of Pacific police and law enforcement agencies participated in the CSP Pacific Community Trainer (PCT) Workshop. In attendance were police representatives from American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Nauru, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Samoa.

Supported by the Samoa-Australia Police Partnership (SAPP), CSP facilitated the attendance of Pacific police officers from all subregions of the Pacific to attend the workshop in Apia, Samoa.

Workshop participants were selected based on their experience and roles in cyber prevention or community engagement. Participants were given the floor to dissect, critically evaluate, and build upon the current CSP Cyber Awareness Prevention and Education (CAPE) curriculum and reimagine to ensure the content remained Pacific-specific, culturally grounded, and fit for purpose. An initative aligned to CSP's core principle approach of 'By the Pacific, for the Pacific.'

The workshop aimed to empower these officers with the skills and knowledge necessary to address the unique challenges faced by their communities in the realm of an ever increasing and sophisticated digital landscape. Through interactive sessions, participants engaged in discussions on best practices, shared their insights, and collaborated on developing innovative strategies tailored to their local contexts.

The sessions were a blend of creative storytelling, group activities, and case studies, encouraging active participation and deeper understanding. By the end of the workshop, attendees left with a renewed sense of purpose and a toolkit of culturally relevant resources to implement in their respective communities.

The CSP Pacific Community Trainer Workshop not only enhanced the professional capabilities of the participants but also fostered a spirit of regional cooperation and mutual support in the fight against cybercrime. As these officers returned to their respective countries, they carried with them the knowledge and inspiration to drive positive change, ensuring a safer digital environment for all Pacific peoples.
