Samoa - Cybercrime Investigation Enhancement Program

Advancing Samoa's Cyber Team with the Cybercrime Investigation Enhancement program.

From 12 to 15 of May 2026, the Cyber Team of the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services participated in the CSP Cybercrime Investigation Enhancement program at the Samoa Police Training Academy.

This four-day refresher and progressive initiative built upon last year's Cybercrime Investigation Foundation (CIF) program and was designed to strengthen online investigative skills while enhancing officers' capacity to tackle the rising challenges of cybercrime in Samoa.

Led by CSP Team Leader Nigel Wood, the program demonstrated the Cyber Team's ongoing dedication to improving knowledge and skills necessary for effectively investigating cyber-related offenses, ensuring the safety and security of the public in the digital landscape. Participants engaged in a series of tabletop exercises and interactive sessions, covering topics such as digital evidence, threat analysis, triaging, and the latest cybercrime trends. Participants were most grateful to Nigel for his insights and best practices, providing officers with a comprehensive understanding of complex cyber threats.

The program also emphasised the importance of collaboration and information sharing with international law enforcement agencies and cybersecurity experts. By fostering these connections, the Cyber Team aims to stay ahead of emerging threats and develop innovative strategies to combat cybercrime effectively.

Reflecting on the program, Team Leader Nigel Wood expressed his confidence in the team's enhanced capabilities: “these officers are now better equipped to identify and address cybercrimes swiftly and effectively, protecting their communities from evolving digital dangers.”

As cyber threats continue to evolve, the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services remains committed to advancing its skills and knowledge, ensuring a safer online environment for all its citizens.
